Would you like a scenic classical day hike? We offer explorations around the hills of Florence.
Fiesole to Settignano (Via Cave di Maiano), about 5 hours. Pick up at accommodation in private van. This walk is the most classic and scenic walk around the hills of Florence. The day starts in the heart of the Etruscan town of Fiesole, (7 km distance from Florence). Here we can see traces of this ancient civilization and also the amphitheater from Roman times. The walk goes through the oak forest, near Monte Ceceri, a panoramic spot known for Leonardo’s first human flight experiments. We pass quarries where grey limestone has been mined since ancient times. This area is where material was extracted to build most of the Renaissance palaces and buildings you see in town. We walk by quaint homes, and through an olive grove, ending the walk in the nearby town of Settignano, where Lunch reservations have been made. This is the village where Michelangelo lived as a young child, learning the trade of a stone mason. Return to your accommodation in late afternoon.
San Miniato al Monte: Florence’s Balcony, 3 hour urban trekking tour. This is an urban trek which starts in the heart of Florence, at Ponte Vecchio, and leads up to the magnificent 12th century Romanesque church of San Miniato a Monte, which we will visit together. Walk along the backstreets of the Oltrarno, passing by a Renaissance Fortress and numerous family Villas. Walk to the small village of Acetri, where scientist Galileo lived and worked the last years of his life. Enjoy magnificent vistas and the cityscape of Florence at sunset.

Chianti Hills, a full day excursion, 8 hours. Pick up at accommodation by private transfer. Travel about one hour south, and explore the famed area between Florence and Siena called Chianti Classico. Visit small villages, parish churches and castles by foot. Visit a boutique winery. Enjoy a delicious lunch of antipasti and homemade pasta. Walk on dirt roads overlooking the vineyards. It is everything you imagined, believe us! Return to Florence in the late afternoon.
Via Francigena, 8 hours, a full day itinerary. A travelling experience across time. Pick up at accommodation by our private transfer service and head south. Enjoy easy short sections on the medieval highway crossed by merchants, pilgrims and crusaders to reach the tomb of Saint Peter in Rome and the holy city of Jerusalem. This area of Tuscany is the most picturesque characterized with rolling sweet hills and Mediterranean low-lying brush. Nearby are the crystal town of Colle Val d’Elsa and the ringed wall castle of Monteriggioni, the northern most Sienese outpost described by Dante in his Divine Comedy. Visit the Romanesque church of Abbadia Isola, an ancient hospital for pilgrims. On our way back home depending on the time we could have a gelato stop in S. Gimignano, to admire the beautiful medieval towers.
Cinque Terre, 8-10 hours, a full day itinerary. Travel from Florence by our private transfer service to the Ligurian seaside. The national park of the Cinque Terre is characterized by the charm of old fishing villages and the exceptional natural beauty that have made this landscape a popular destination since the age of the Romantic poets. Hamlets of multicolored homes and fishing skiffs in dazzling sunlight delight the eye, framed with banquets of fresh fish and the best pesto of Ligurian cuisine. With proper hiking boots, we walk a portion of the coastal pathway through centuries old vineyards which link these five, small, seaside fishing villages. We will explore the towns by foot, boat or train depending on weather conditions. Return to Florence by our private transfer service.
